If there's something strange in your neighborhood...
Who you gonna call?
![]() ![]() Being that most of the people who are reading this are geeks on one level or another, I think it's safe to say that Ghostbusters rates pretty high with most audiences. A few days ago I came across an article discussing that Sierra was developing a new Ghostbusters game. When I read that Dan Akroyd managed to get Sam Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson together for the voice overs to the characters of the 1984 blockbuster, my heart skipped a beat. Even though Ghostbusters II ended up kind of sucking it hard I still enjoyed it for what it was. I always kind of hoped for a Ghostbusters 3 but knew that it was kind of unrealistic. Of course the way games are going these days, a game could easily replace a movie when it comes to storytelling. I decided to hit up Kotaku for some afternoon reading while I sipped my coffee and came across another tidbit of Ghostbusters goodness. A nice gameplay video with our heros, Dr. Venkman, Ray, Egon, and Winston and our favorite all time bad guy... The Stay Puft Marshmellow man. ![]() According to what I've read Ghostbusters 3 will take place after Ghostbuster 2. For those of you who don't really recall, Sigorney Weaver and Peter had a kid, the kid was hijacked by some demon dude from a painting named Vigo. In a battle involving the ineffective Rick Moranis, the Statue of Liberty, our four heros and a lot of happy-go-lucky pink looking slime that sort of resembled pepto bismol, they banished Vigo to some recess of the netherworld or outright destroyed him and restored order once again. So apparently like most movie makers who make a crappy sequel, they're buckling down and going back to basis. Enjoy the gameplay video. I certainly did. This should be released around Halloween 2008. |

Darkfall
Big Announcement? Or just big hype?
![]() I remember hearing about Darkfall back in 2005. Approximately around the time where I just flat out had it with games like WoW, where treadmills were just the most annoying pissy things ever. I never did well with treadmill games. I hated being forced into where I could go, what I could do there, and where I couldn't go because I either wasn't "strong" enough or I was too strong. I hate lineal games like that. I'm guessing for many of you who love GTA, a game that essentially is an urban sandbox, you do too. Now being caught up in the glamour that was Darkfall for a good solid year, I followed this game intensely. Every update, every Developer chat, every interview. Website update? I was on it. I busted my ass to get into a clan so I could be part of the Clan beta. I visited and contributed on the forums often. Then slowly, week by week, month by month I grew jaded. I started seeing the redundancy in both the forum conversations and the developer updates. Screenshots. Beta was only for shock value. While so many screamed "VAPORWARE!" I screamed back "GTFO". Today, I think Darkfall is the only game that could potentially bring us out of the WoW toilet. In fact I believe there was a thread here (or perhaps elsewhere) citing that thanks to World of Warcraft, we've got more MMORPG gamers out there. Those who got hooked into WoW are looking at games that raise their eyebrow. Age of Conan is being looked at by an audience that say, 3 years ago, didn't exist. So I can't be -too- harsh with WoW. They are a good stepping stone into the MMORPG world. The are the "newbie level", a tutorial... to more advanced MMORPGs out there. I have been pretty hesitant about Age of Conan. I don't know why. Something in my gut screams failure. Which is really strange because I am a HUGE fan of the Conan series. When I was about 10 or so, my dad bought me some of the original Conan books. I instantly fell in love with them. I watched (and own) the two Conan movies starring my Governator (Yes, I live in California. Not hard to figure out who I'm talking about here). I do hope for the best regarding AoC, I really do. I would love to see Conan thrust back into the spotlight again. While you're wondering why I went from talking about Darkfall and my shattered dreams to Age of Conan and my grim prediction, I'm sitting here trying to figure out a way to get to the point. So I guess the best way is to just cut to the meaty chase. I made the above clickable to their latest dev journal. It has some good information on top of the release announcement. Now. Ok. I'm not a software developer. I'm a geek who drinks a lot of beer, plays games, and has been fortunate enough to stumble onto this site and work with a great guy like Violent Dave who happens to run the best SAMP RP server you'll ever play on. I don't code, at most I chip in whenever I can. But even I know that while you can announce something, you can also take it back for any reason you want. Just like we had to delay our closed beta test, the Darkfall developers may hold up their hands and go "Woah. Our mistake. We meant 3008. Total typo on our part!" The difference between our little server and their highly anticipated game is that we've actually produced results. They've yet to produce anything other than a few screenshots and some outdated movies. Don't get me wrong. I want this game to be released. I want to play this game. I want to create a clan with the players of this site and really kick some ass. However... this is Darkfall. The most highly anticipated game that was ever to not be released. 2008 should be a damn interesting year. It's already started off great with Grand Theft Auto 4. We've got some amazing games coming out this summer. And I bet you, if Darkfall makes that list, it's going to be a golden year for gaming. |

Gears of War 2
![]() While I was strolling through the usual sites I stumbled across some tidbits about the up and coming Gears of War 2. I know there are mixed feelings about Gears of War. Some people loved it, others thought it was a complete waste. So those of you who thought it was a complete waste, this post will also be a complete waste of your time. A friend of mine got me Gears of War when I built up a new PC last year to put the new card I bought to the test. I've heard things about GoW but since before last December I was never an Xbox owner. The good thing about this is that I was one of the people who got to play the bonus missions where you got to deal with the Brumok. As anticlimatic as it was, I thought it was cool. Hell, I thought the entire game was cool. Which is why stuff like Gears of War 2 is going to make me write about it. There were two places that I found (I'm sure there are more) information on. The more prominent one was 1up. There is also a post about it over on Kotaku, which I know a number of people here visit on a daily basis. First off let's get the screencaps out of the way. You can find 16 or so screecaps here. It sounds to me like Epic, the makers of Gears of War, understand that they will need to take it up a notch with Gears of War 2. That's always a good sign. Fenix and Dom, along with Cole and Baird seem to be the go-to guys for the survival of the humans. Again. Although it seems as if they've added a 5th wheel. Some guy named Dunny. I guess he's the driver of the team. So at least they might be getting moved around instead of having to hoof it everytime something breaks down. What's next? A butler? Oh right, I forgot that already have Jack. It also seems like Gears of War 2, while it starts off as a fight for survival, will end up taking the fight directly to the Locusts by going underground and killing them on their turf. As you read some of 1up's preview you'll realize a good portion of the game will take place underground, but there will also be some other fantastic landscapes to play on. As for multiplayer, it looks like they're going to have an extensive pack of maps to play as well as a lot of DLC (Downloadable Content). It also appears that X360 users won't be denied Brumok fights. As you can see, they are PLENTIFUL in the screencaps. Having fought the Brumok on the PC version, I can say with all honesty that I am both excited and unhappy to fight more. Because I don't think there are going to be two huge electric towers that will be waiting for a brumok superconductor in every city. But at the same time... you know that when they start throwing Brumoks and Corpsers at you with frequency, you're going to get bigger and badder weaponry. While the Hammer of Dawn was nice... I'd like to see some mega fucking gun mounted on a tank or something. Something nice and insane. I encourage you guys to read up on the preview for Gears of War 2 if you're interested. You can read the preview over at 1up here and the one over at Kotaku here. As always, feel free to discuss Gears of War 2 either here or make a thread in the Gaming Forum and froth away. Good Times Ahead. |

SA-MP:
Has SA-MP been hacked or has it indeed closed shop?
Many of you are searching for answers. Well, frankly, so are we. It seems that people have logged into www.sa-mp.com to find the following message displayed: We gave up! kaput! And we don't wish to be a associated with this program anymore. So please respect our copyright and license and do not distribute any of our files.I've attempted to hook into various sources of the website and it displays the same message, no matter what I do or try. Some of you have speculated this could simply be someone hacking into their servers and it could very well be. Some have speculated that, if they had shut it down, they would've announced it or the server would simply be shut off. Well, I think it's never that simple. Truth is, until someone from the SA-MP team decides to surface and inform the people who have been utilizing the SAMP engine, for now we simply will have to take the message as it is. They Gave Up. We haven't. Right now our biggest concern is the future of WTFGTA and not only getting this up and running, but making sure that the players are able to connect. We will try and keep everyone updated as we progress into getting the server up and running along with making sure players are able to connect to it. Update: Thanks to the diligence of SAMP users, a new forum has sprouted up and the community has shouldered the project. While the chances of the 2.2.5 patch are slim to none, you can at least still count on the SAMP community to create and share servers. If you're looking for the new SAMP forums, click this link. WTFGTA Goodfellas 3.0 is still going to continue forward. While our closed beta test is slightly delayed (due to other circumstances) we still plan on getting this done soon. Violent Dave will be informing testers when this will occur. On a related note, this ordeal with the SAMP team and its community just goes to prove that while you can script up a server, create a site and server... ultimately it's the community that really matters. Because without you guys, this thing would never happen. Thank you for all of your support for this site and the WTFGTA Goodfellas server. |

A sneak preview of 3.0
With the closed beta planned for going live tomorrow, I thought it would be sweet to write a story on it. Last night I was given the chance to have a look at the 3.0 pre-beta build. I have to say it was amazing to see what work had been done and what is in store. Lets start with the new-look tutorial. It has been made into a table instead of just running through on the chatbox. It is the first thing you will notice on registering, and I think its very professional. ![]() When you log in, you’ll first notice that you spawn in random places across the city, instead of one centralised spawn where all chaos breaks loose. For example, I woke up behind some boxes and a dumpster (my home). This proves that you have to work your way to the top. ![]() One new profession, the Smuggling profession relies on several points to receive guns such as the one in the following picture. I'm not giving any details away about this job, however. ![]() SF has been completely been moved to LV, this included all car spawns, gang headquarters and job locations. I thought you'd like to know that 664 cars have been scattered throughout the cities. 25 of these cars are hidden, "easter egg" cars and I'm not allowed to show you locations. There is a 3.7% chance of finding one of these hidden cars. These hidden cars are going to be fast and fashionable cars, giving some value to cars as they're not easily found. Since SF was entirely moved to LV, and the ship for the national guard was hardcoded, it had to be sailed through all the little rivers. I didn't want to enter, read the sign below. ![]() ![]() If you want something to think about, just take look at this new stats page. I'm certain you'll see a few new things. ![]() This is as far as I'm going to write about, because I don't want to ruin all the nice little surprises. |

Here it is, the CCN book!
First of all, let me say sorry for the delay but to update you I have been very busy in RL with a lot of issues. I currently just got out of the Army from Germany and moved my lovely ass all the way down to San Antonio where I had to hussle and bussle to get apartments and yada yada.
So since I didn't get much time to work on it, this about 1-2 hours worth of work but I wanted to give you a taste and let you choose what happens next. I almost kept going but instead... Well, let me just shut up and give it to you. Without furthure ado: Help out CCN by checking out our sponsors! ------------------------------------------------------ ![]() Part I (I had a hell of a problem trying to indent so I just double spaced the paragraphs. This will be fixed next time.) It smelled like year old urine and fecces as I stood there with my fly down pissing aimlessly onto the bathroom wall. I looked at my watch -- 1030. I still had 15 minutes until she would drive-by. I walked over to the cracked mirror that sat inside the run down 7-11 gas station whos shelves inside were empty and gas pumps were missing. I was in the middle of nowhere practically and the next town was about another 25 minutes of driving from here. I combed my greasy black hair back and wound it into a ponytail. My hair was naturally dirty blonde but I never liked it, was too "preppy" I liked to convince myself. I stared into the mirror through the cracks and studied my own face. Pointy nose, emerald green eyes, sharp eyebrows that gave away my natural hair color, thin bird lips that I loved to hate. I could hear nothing in my left ear and my left eye was corroded with tunnel vision along with many scars along the left side of my neck. Wait -- Read more... |

Heh. Vince Sixx may or may not be dead...I may just include him in my stories, however.
Damnit Jack, you made me want to bring Vince back. ...I can predict that soon I'll say, you know, I'll just keep rping Vince.

I meant to write:
Metaphorical balls, the name Vince Sixx had. My bad. Tiredness.

it's different... and lacks the metaphorical name that Vince Sixx was...
But, congrats! Can't wait to see you in game.
